Dead Ends
Why does it seem like we have constantly hit a dead end in life? Life will keep us stepping over hurdles to get from point A to point B. It doesn’t make sense, does it? I have had a hard time dealing with this in my own life. I can’t seem to understand why I must bare these things alone.
I know as a housewife there is always something for me to attend to. If it is not the laundry or the dirty dishes it is something else. So, why am I burdened? I shouldn’t be. After all, Christ bore the burdens for us didn’t He?
“And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.” (Luke 14:27)
Christ was the one that hanged upon a tree and died for our sins. He had the nails driven into His hands and feet. Can you imagine the torment that Christ must have gone through on the cross for us?
It is hard to visualize that kind of torment let alone experiencing it yourself. Yet, at times it feels as if we are. The hustles of everyday life seem to put us in an uncomfortable position. The job, the kids, the meeting and the like tend to keep us running raged. But, imagine the sacrifice Christ gave for us!
So, why do we find it hard to bear that cross at times? Why are we running into a dead end? Maybe it is our relationship with Christ that is at a dead end. If we are not bearing the cross for Him then our light can’t shine for others.
We must realize our need for Christ. When we can recognize our need then we can begin to build that relationship. Think about your life right now. What things need to be changed? Are you growing closer to Him or further away? That might be why you are always at a dead end in your life.
God wants for us to bear our cross daily. He wants us to be close to Him. By being close, we can learn to fix the things that cause us to stumble. Kicking the hurdles to the curve can be the best way to bear our cross. It can help us grow from point A to point B in a flash. So, what’s your hurdle?
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
I can do all things…what a powerful verse. Yet, many of us do not feel as though we have the power to do anything. It simply means we can endure it all. So, if we can endure it all then we should be able to carry that cross. Yes, at times it will feel heavy because of the burdens we carry. Nevertheless, when we learn to let them go and give them over to Christ that cross will be lighter. Endure it. Take it. Carry it. Carry the cross of Christ!
