Autumn Leaves
In October my husband and I took a trip. We traveled through the mountains part of the way. The trees were absolutely beautiful with their red, yellow and orange hues. I made an attempt to get some pictures as we drove down the highway; some turned out okay Others were just a blur of color and not very good at all.
As we travelled, I noticed that on more than one of the church signs was the phrase, “Autumn Leaves.” After the third sign, I asked my husband what he thought that sign meant. He ... Read More >> |

| God's Crazy Quilt | Resolutions and Hope
For with God nothing shall be impossible. (Luke 1:37, KJV)
Many of us look at the new year and resolve to make changes in our lives. | Short Stories | Letting Up
I imagine pressing my thumb into the shoulder flesh of the woman standing in front of me. She’s wearing a knit top with a boat-neck collar revealing a wide swath of skin. She reminds me of my mother. It’s not fat running along the slope of her neck and shoulder—it’s a puffiness that comes with age if you’re not the lean type. When I was very young, probably four, I used to press my mother’s flesh and marvel how it turned blankly pale until I let up, and the blush returned.

| Reflecting Well | Just As You Are
"I'm too fat." "I'm too skinny." "I wish I was more intelligent." "People look at her with respect." "She looks all together." "Why didn't God make me more like that woman."
Do these sentences sound familiar? You may relate to them even if your personal thoughts are slightly different. Whatever words we use, the feelings behind the words represent how we view ourselves. In other words, it comes out in our self-esteem. How we act out is a red flag to how we think of ourselves. It is evident in t ... Read More >> |
