| Extreme Health | The Calming Response
The Calming Response takes the Deep Breathing method a step further. Use this technique to calm yourself before or during a stressful event.
1. Breathe in deeply. Hold your breath for 5 seconds
2. Blow out slowly and focus on relaxing all the muscles in your body.
3. Repeat the following words to yourself: “I am relaxed.”
4. Continue for a few minutes until you feel calm.
Imagery
This is a good method to use when you need a mini-break from the stresses of the day.

| God's Crazy Quilt | Choose the Cross; Reward is God
"And whosoever doth not bear his cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:27)
Imagine you are applying for a job: You’ve gotten through the interview process and are now negotiating your contract. Everything you’ve heard about this new job sounds really great: nice benefits, a lot of travelling, meeting new people. It’s better than fishing or farming and your new boss has such a dynamic personality. People are flocking to him, to hear what he has to say and see the wonder ... Read More >> |

| God's Tender Morsels | Calvary or Bust
Once upon a time when hitchhiking wasn’t so dangerous, people used to stand on the side of highways and byways holding signs reminiscent of the title of this month’s column. They wanted to get to where they were going or go belly up in the process. As Christian women, our daily destination is not so easy to reach.
Let’s begin with a few facts. Calvary is the place where our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was crucified over 2,000 years ago. He came into this world to set the record straight ... Read More >> |

| The Bridge of Life | The Cross of Humility
"And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all." (Mark 9:35, KJV)
A friend remarked to me that amongst the famous faces you see on the television these days, there are some people who haven’t done anything of note to be given that title. They are getting more than their “fifteen minutes of fame.”
Have you ever seen puppies in a box or a cage? When people come over to look at them, each one climbs ... Read More >> |

| Tsofi - All Things Jewish | Pesach - Passover
On the 15th of our month of March, the Jewish calendar marks the beginning of the New Year for Israel (5770) as stated in Exodus 12:1-2: “And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.” Months were simply called by their number placement until after the Babylonian exile. This month is now called Nisan.
According to the rest of the passage, God instructs the Israelites t ... Read More >> |

| Just My Size | Bearing a Cross that Fits
In today’s society, women are targeted for doing what they feel is their responsibility to God. The calling they each feel on their life is sometimes ridiculed. Look around. This is a man’s world in which we live. But when it comes to a woman working for the Heavenly cause, the cross we bear for doing it is twice the weight of a man’s.
There are many religions today that do not allow women to participate in the ministry of God. I have found it a hard road to travel to stand for what I beli ... Read More >> |

| Grandma's Corner | Worthy to be Called
This year my goal is to read the Bible through again. I’m implementing a reading plan that takes me to several different books each day, moving me back and forth from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Though not as faithful as I’d wish to be, I still haven’t missed very many mornings in the Word.
What has witnessed to me the most is the faithfulness of the individuals I read about, and their immediate obedience when called by God. For instance, from my readings in Matthew, I am remin ... Read More >> |

| The Reflecting Well | Dead Ends
Why does it seem like we have constantly hit a dead end in life? Life will keep us stepping over hurdles to get from point A to point B. It doesn’t make sense, does it? I have had a hard time dealing with this in my own life. I can’t seem to understand why I must bare these things alone.
I know as a housewife there is always something for me to attend to. If it is not the laundry or the dirty dishes it is something else. So, why am I burdened? I shouldn’t be. After all, Christ bore the bur ... Read More >> |
